DRGW Green River Route Streckenplan

Produktbeschreibung des Herstellers

The DRGW Green River Subdivision is a stretch of railway between the western Colorado town of Grand Junction and Helper, Utah. Traversing approximately 180 miles, this deceptively hilly area traverses various terrain, from grassy Colorado Plateau, to canyons to arid desert. The line is also a connection to various coal branches, such as the North Fork, Sunnyside and Castle Valley lines. The entire line is CTC (Centralized Traffic Control), so all the train movements are by signal indication, and rarely do the train crews require communication with the dispatchers.
The Green River Subdivision acts as a funnel, channeling the traffic from the Moffat line and Tennessee Pass line in Colorado to the western states and connections with the Western Pacific in Salt Lake City, UT, and Southern Pacific/Union Pacific in Ogden UT. Eastern connections included Burlington Northern in Denver CO., and Santa Fe/Cotton Belt in Pueblo, CO. The traffic over the line is varied; from manifests to bulk traffic and TOFC. The era (1983) saw smaller trains, usually between 40 and 50 cars. The Denver & Rio Grande was able to compete with other roads by running short, fast, trains over their mountainous profile.
